Panthers represented in 60m dash and distance medley relay
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Plymouth State University was well represented in two events Friday on the first day of the ECAC Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Ocean Breeze Park Track and Field Athletic Complex.
PSU had an outstanding performance by its distance medley relay team of freshmen Warren Bartlett (Loudon, N.H.), Kyle Saunders (Hudson, N.H.) and Sam Brunnette (Newport, Vt.) and sophomore Brendan Polichronopoulos (Penacook, N.H.). The Panther contingent placed fifth out of 14 schools in a time of 10:20.07 to score four points in the team standings, bettering their seed time by more than 15 seconds (10:35.70). Bartlett started out with the 1200 meter leg, followed by Saunders for 400 meters, Polichronopoulos for 800 meters and Brunnette as the anchor for the 1600 meters.
Freshman Isaiah Bolden (Dover, N.H.) finished in 16th place out 24 sprinters in the 60 meter dash. He ran a time of 7.12 seconds, just off his previous best time of 7.02, set last month at Dartmouth College. The top eight sprinters finished in 7.03 or better to advance to Saturday's final.
PSU is tied for 19th in the team standings with four points, with 28 schools scoring at least one point. Rowan University leads the team scoring with 26 points, with Brockport State runner-up with 21.
Plymouth State will be represented in two more events on Saturday as Bartlett will compete in the 1000 meters and Brunnette in the 3000 meters.
