PSU Track & Field sends three to MIT Final Qualifier

Brunnette, Bartlett, Rosario represent Panthers in last chance meet

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Three Plymouth State University men's track and field student-athletes took one last attempt to qualify for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships Thursday evening at the MIT Final Qualifier on the Morrison Track.

The Panthers were represented by sophomores Sam Brunnette (Newport, Vt.) and Warren Bartlett (Loudon, N.H.) and freshman Eric Rosario (Methuen, Mass.). None of the three qualified for the NCAA national meet next week in Ohio.

Brunnette competed in the 3000-meter steeplechase, finishing in a time of 9:32.53. His time was about six seconds off the school-record time of 9:26.29 he ran two weeks ago at the New England Division III Championships. Brunnette was attempting to qualify for the outdoor nationals after competing in the 3000 meters at the NCAA indoor nationals in March.

Bartlett was a competitor in the 1500 meters, and finished in a time of 4:10.77. It was a sub-par performance for the Panther sophomore, compared to the 3:54.52 he ran at the New England Division III Championships two weeks ago. Bartlett was seeking his first NCAA Championships berth.

Rosario represented PSU in the 400 meter dash, finishing in a time of 49.86 seconds. It was a solid performance for the Panther rookie, but almost a second off the 48.94 he ran at the Little East Conference Championships last month. Rosario capped off an outstanding spring season that included the Litte East title in the 400.

Plymouth State is in its second year as a varsity sport under head coach John Ostler.
