Lewis shines in Day Two, additional Panthers to compete Sunday

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Freshman Terrell Lewis (Nashua, N.H.) set a school record in the preliminaries of the 110 meter hurdles at the NCAA Division III New England Championship men's outdoor track and field meet hosted by MIT at Morrison Track on Friday.

Lewis qualified fourth in a record time of 14.84 seconds. It was the 34th fastest time in the country, topping his previous mark of 15.11 seconds set last week at the Little East Conference and New England Alliance Championships at Bridgewater State University. He will compete in the finals on Sunday.

Lewis added a personal record in the long jump to finish seventh. He cleared 6.71 meters (22' 0.25") to earn All-New England honors.

Also competing for PSU in day two were freshman Joey Baylus (Loudon, N.H.) and sophomore Zach Bassett (Pascoag, R.I.). Baylus finished ninth in the preliminaries of the 110 meter hurdles in 15.42, missing a qualifying time for the finals by just 0.05 seconds. Bassett did not finish.

PSU earned two team points to finish tied for 17th place after day two. Host MIT owns the team lead with 54 points. A number of Panthers will be competing during the final day of action on Sunday.
