Rigoli named Field Rookie of the Week

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Fresh off a second place finish at the SNHU Spring Invitational the Plymouth State University men's outdoor track & field program was honored by the Little East Conference (LEC) on Monday when the league revealed its weekly award winners.

Freshman Jacob Rigoli (Essex, Vt.) was named the LEC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Field Rookie of the Week after an impressive individual performance at the inaugural event.

Rigoli was a double-winner for the Panthers. He won the hammer throw in school record fashion and was the top collegiate finisher in the discus.

Rigoli shattered the school record in the hammer throw, clearing the previous mark by 3.78 meters. His throw of 46.53 meters (152' 8") met the qualifying standards for next month's NCAA Division III New England Championships and is currently among the top-20 in New England.

Rigoli nearly qualified for the New England championships in the discus, as well. His throw of 39.98 meters (132' 2") was tops among collegiate competition and came just 0.27 meters shy of the qualifying standard.

Plymouth State returns to Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday (Apr. 13) for the Penmen Relays, with the first events starting at 10:00 a.m.
