PSU Men’s Outdoor Track & Field opens New England Regionals

Lewis off to good start for Panthers

            WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Sophomore Terrell Lewis (Nashua, N.H.) qualified for the finals of the 110m hurdles and fared well in the long jump as the Plymouth State University men's outdoor track & field team kicked off the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship at Lee Track on the campus of Williams College on Friday.

            Joining Lewis in the first day of action were sophomore Tim Gray (Derby, Vt.) and freshman Jacob Rigoli (Essex, Vt.) competing in the hammer throw.

            MIT leads all teams with 47 points, followed by Bates College (24) and Tufts University (22). The Panthers did not accumulate any team points on day one.

            How it Happened:

            * Lewis posted the second fastest time in the preliminaries of the 110m hurdles, crossing the line in 14.99 seconds, to qualify for Saturday's finals.

            * He was also second in his flight in the long jump. His leap of 6.35 meters put him in 17th overall.

            * Gray reached 44.81 meters on the hammer throw to finish ninth in his flight, while Rigoli was right behind him with a heave of 43.62 meters. Overall the duo finished 22nd and 24th.

 

            Up Next:

            * The meet concludes on Saturday (May 4) with Panthers competing in the shot put, discus throw, 3000m steeplechase and 4x100m relay.
