PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Three members of the Plymouth State College softball team have earned Little East Conference All-Star Honorable Mention after a successful season.
Senior Sara Wormwood (Rutland, VT), sophomore Kristen Fusick (Windsor Locks, Conn.), and freshman Adriene Harvey (Nantucket, Mass.) were all awarded LEC honors.
Wormwood, Fusick and Harvey were bright spots for Plymouth State as the team finished the season with a 15-20 record, following last Tuesday's elimination from the Little East Tournament. The 15 victories were the most for the team since 1994.
Wormwood concluded an outstanding career in a Panther uniform with her third LEC selection, having earned the same honors in 1997 and 1999. A power-hitting first baseman, she batted .346 with a team-leading eight doubles, five home runs, 25 RBI and 33 runs scored. She etched her name in the PSC record book as the all-time leader in home runs in a game (2), season (7) and career (16).
Fusick, who moved from the outfield to second base this season, earns her first LEC honor. She batted .284 and was third on the team in hits and doubles and fourth in runs scored.
Harvey turned in an outstanding rookie campaign with her first LEC honor. A freshman outfielder/catcher, Harvey led the Panthers and ranked among the LEC leaders in batting average (.389), hits (44), triples (5), home runs (5) and RBI (23). She was selected LEC Rookie of the Week last month after batting .454 and leading PSC to an upset of LEC leading Western Connecticut.
