All-LEC Honors for two Panthers

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two members of the Plymouth State College softball team have earned All-Little East Conference honors for their performances in the 2001 season.

Senior Steph Ruel (Biddeford, Maine) and junior Kristen Fusick (Windsor Locks, Conn.) were both named LEC Second Team All-Stars in voting by the league's head coaches. Ruel was chosen as a catcher and Fusick earned her second straight all-star selection at second base.

A superb defensive catcher, Ruel is a three-year starter for PSC behind the plate. She batted .241 this season, with a double and eight RBI. Ruel also finishes her career with three doubles, two home runs and 25 RBI.

A two-year starter at second base, Fusick played through injuries this season. She batted .294 with a pair of doubles, and registered a solid .954 fielding percentage, committing only three errors all spring.

The Panthers completed the 2001 campaign with a 10-20 overall record under interim head coach Harry Blood. The Panthers finished in seventh place in the LEC with a 4-10 mark.
