Jeffs & Harvey named All-LEC
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two Plymouth State College softball players were honored Monday when the Little East Conference announced the 2003 All-Star Team and award winners.
Senior catcher Adriene Harvey (Nantucket, Mass.) and sophomore pitcher Kim Jeffs (Stoughton, Mass.) were PSC's selections on the All-LEC First Team. Harvey earns All-Conference honors for the third time in her career, while Jeffs is recognized for the second straight season. In addition, Jeffs was voted LEC Pitcher of the Year for the second straight season.
Harvey and Jeffs are the backbone to a PSC squad that has set a school record for victories in a season for the second year in a row. The Panthers are 25-8 overall and are the No. 2 seed in this week's ECAC Division III New England Tournament.
Jeffs followed up her All-America freshman season with another terrific campaign for the Panthers. She enters the ECAC Tournament with a sparkling 22-6 record (school-record for wins in a seaon) and a 0.64 earned run average. In 196.2 innings, Jeffs has allowed only 110 hits and 28 runs (18 earned). She has shown remarkable control, walking only nine batters while striking out an NCAA Division III-leading 310.
Harvey is wrapping up an outstanding career in a Panther uniform. She leads the team this spring in batting average (.348), runs (17), hits (32), doubles (7), home runs (7), and RBI (23). PSC's cleanup hitter, Harvey ranks third in the conference in homers and fourth in RBI. She owns several school records, including doubles and home runs in a season, and home runs and total bases in a career.
