PSU Softball to hold Winter Indoor Clinics
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The Plymouth State University softball program is offering its annual series of winter instructional clinics for all ages, according to fourth-year head coach Bruce Addison.
The clinics are designed as "hands-on" training is order to give all young players a practical way to learn the skills of softball. The players will work on the fundamentals of pitching, fielding, the overhand throw and hitting, and will be instructed by the PSU coaching staff and team members with assistance from area high school coaches.
The clinics dates are various Saturdays from January to March, with two sessions each day from 10:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and again from 12:45 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The clinic dates are Feb. 9, Feb. 16, Feb. 23, and Mar. 1. Each will have pitching, hitting and defense instruction available during each session.
The cost for a hitting and defense session is $20, a pitching session is $30, and all day sessions are $40.
All instruction, according to Addison, will be followed by practical experience time for each participant. The clinics will take place in the P.E. Center Field House on PSU's campus. Athletes will learn the PSU team's hitting style and perform the same drills as the Panthers, with the assistance from the PSU players.
"All we ask is that you bring sneakers, a bat, a glove and an open mind," said Addison. "We've found this to be a fun and learning experience for everyone."
