PSU student-athletes earn LEC weekly honors
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two Plymouth State University student-athletes were recognized by the Little East Conference on Monday with the first round of spring sports weekly honors.
Senior Adam Krinsky (Concord, N.H.) was named LEC Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, and freshman Melissa Caiazzo (Portland, Maine/Deering) was selected LEC Softball Rookie of the Week. They were both key contributors as their Plymouth State teams returned from Spring Break with winning records.
A senior attack and co-captain, Krinsky registered 11 points in three games (five goals, six assists), helping the Panthers to a 2-1 record. He had a goal and two assists in a 9-6 win over Mass Maritime, a goal and two assists again in a 7-5 loss to Eastern University, and a game-high three goals and two assists in an 11-7 triumph over Richard Stockton. Krinsky took 21 shots and also picked up five ground balls.
Krinsky is a three-time All-LEC selection, and is already on PSU's all-time top 10 for career goals, assists and points.
A freshman first baseman, Caiazzo led the Panthers to an 8-2 record on the spring trip, batting .433 with 10 RBI in 10 games. She went 13-for-30 with a double, a triple and four runs scored. She also played error-free in 41 chances in the field. Her top games included going 4-for-4 with a triple and three RBI in a win over Worcester State; going 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI in a win over SUNY Brockport; and going 3-for-5 with two RBI in a win over St. Lawrence.
The PSU men's lacrosse team is back in action this Wednesday with a 3:30 p.m. contest at Lasell College, while the softball squad returns to the diamond this Saturday in an LEC-opening doubleheader at UMass Dartmouth (1:00 p.m.)
