PSU Softball player named All-LEC at Second Base
Blase honored; Panthers repeat Sportsmanship Award
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The starting second baseman
on the Plymouth State University softball team was recognized
Tuesday with selection to the All-Little East Conference Team for
2011, and the entire Panther team was honored by receiving the LEC
Team Sportsmanship Award for the second year in a row, as voted by
the league’s head coaches.
Junior Heather Blase (Milford, N.H./Milford) represented Plymouth State on the All-LEC Team as a First Team selection. A three-year starter, she enjoyed an outstanding season in the Panther line-up and ended up as the only player on the team to start every game.

A 5’8” second baseman, Blase batted .311 and led the team in hits (38) and at bats (122). She also ranked second in runs scored (23) and tied for third in RBI (18), while making just six errors all season at second base. Blase appeared in the Little East Conference statistics in a tie for 15th place in both hits and runs.
Blase helped PSU to a 17-22 overall record and a 4-10 mark in the LEC under eighth-year head coach Bruce Addison. The Panthers earned a spot in the LEC Tournament on the final weekend of the regular season, winning the second game of a doubleheader againtt WestConn to secure the berth, but were eliminated with consecutive losses to Eastern Connecticut and UMass Boston.
