PSU Softball takes two from Lyndon State

Jackson, DeGrace with four-hit games to lead Panthers

            LYNDON CENTER, Vt. – The Plymouth State University softball team erupted for 32 hits Wednesday afternoon en route to sweeping a doubleheader from Lyndon State College, 14-2 and 12-3, in non-conference action at Skip Pound Field.

            Junior Calli DeGrace and sophomore Bekah Jackson each had a four-hit game for the Panthers.  DeGrace went 4-for-4 with three doubles in the opener and added a single and a triple in the nightcap to finish the day with six hits, while Jackson went 4-for-5 in the nightcap and scored five runs and drove in three in the twin bill.

            Senior Allie Luisi also collected five hits on the afternoon for the Panthers, including three doubles and five RBIs.  Sophomores Sam Hebert and Jackie Digman each had two-hit games in both ends of the doubleheader, and freshman Cynthia Barata had three hits, including a double and her third home run of the season.

            Junior Ali Keith started and earned the win for PSU in the opener, with relief help from freshman Brittany Orcutt, and Barata earned the complete-game victory for the Panthers in the nightcap.

            PSU will play a doubleheader for the third straight day on Thursday, hosting Fitchburg State University in non-conference action at D&M Park.
