PSU Softball player named Academic All-District
Hebert represents Panthers on prestigious team
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – A sophomore on the Plymouth State University softball team has been honored for her successful accomplishments in the classroom as well as on the field.
Sophomore Sam Hebert (Manchester, N.H./Memorial) has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team, as selected by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). Hebert was voted to the Academic All-District 1 First Team as an infielder in the College Division.
A two-year starter at both first base and catcher, Hebert is batting .360 this season with 11 doubles, four home runs, and a PSU single-season record 38 runs batted in. She ranks in the top three in the Little East Conference in RBIs and in the top 10 in hits doubles, home runs, walks, slugging percentage and on-base percentage. She helped PSU to a fourth-place finish in the Little East, the team's highest finish since 2003.
In the classroom, Hebert is a Psychology major and has been named to the PSU President's List all three of her semesters for having a grade point average greater than 3.7.
To be eligible for the Capital One Academic All-America program, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials and maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). He/she must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution. Academic All-District First Team selections advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America honors.
