PSU Softball player named Academic All-District
Galvin earns spot on prestigious team for Panthers
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – A senior on the Plymouth State University softball team has been honored for her successful accomplishments in the classroom as well as on the diamond.
Senior Nora Galvin (Windham, N.H./Salem) has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team, as selected by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). Galvin was voted to the Academic All-District 1 First Team as a pitcher for NCAA Division III.
A four-year veteran starter and two-year co-captain, Galvin has posted an 8-4 record this spring with a 2.02 earned run average and three shutouts. She has struck out 60 batters in 83 innings, and ranks fourth in the Little East Conference in ERA, sixth in opposing batting average (.248), seventh in strikeouts, and eighth in wins. Galvin ranks second on PSU's career list for victories (32) and strikeouts (341).
In the classroom and in the community, Galvin is a Social Work major who has made the PSU President's List two times and the Dean's List four semesters, and she received the Highest Academic Achievement Award for the PSU Junior Class in Social Work. She was the recipient of the Athletic Department's Brad Wilby Award for displaying Character and Service, and she was Plymouth State's representative on the New Hampshire Service Workers Board of Directors.
To be eligible for the Capital One Academic All-America program, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials and maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). He/she must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution. Academic All-District First Team selections advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
