Miller selected Pitcher of the Week
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The number one pitcher for the Plymouth State University softball team earned Little East Conference (LEC) weekly honors for the second time this season after a number of solid performances in the circle over the last week.
Junior Caitlyn Miller (Lee, N.H.) was named LEC Softball Pitcher of the Week after sporting a 3-1 mark and earning a save over six appearances for the Panthers. She allowed just 25 hits, struck out 12 and posted a 2.10 ERA while logging 26.2 innings over the week.
On Tuesday, she went five innings to earn the win against Keene State after giving up a pair of earned runs in PSU's 11-2 victory. She appeared in both ends of a double header sweep of Rhode Island College on Thursday – going the distance while surrendering just one run in game one.
She capped the week with a pair of appearances in a split with WestConn on Sunday. In the opener she needed just 77 pitches to earn a complete game win, giving up just four hits and one run. In the nightcap she recorded four outs without allowing a baserunner.
Miller appears near the top of the conference in most statistical categories. She leads the league with three saves, 73 strikeouts and 25 appearances, is second in wins (11) and innings pitched (116.1), third in ERA (2.17) and starts (16) and fifth with nine complete games.
Plymouth State (16-16, 9-5 LEC) wraps up the regular season with a pair of home double headers this week. The Panthers host Emerson College in non-conference action on Wednesday (Apr. 24) at 3:30 p.m., before celebrating Senior Day against Eastern Connecticut on Saturday (Apr. 27) at 1:00 p.m.
