Picard, Miller earn weekly recognition

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two members of the Plymouth State University softball team were among those honored when the Little East Conference (LEC) announced its weekly award winners.

Sophomore Emily Picard (Berlin, N.H.) was named Player of the Week, while senior Caitlyn Miller (Lee, N.H.) took home Pitcher of the Week honors as PSU went 4-2 to open THE Spring Games last week.

Picard has registered a hit in each of the Panthers' six games thus far, going 9-for-19 (.474) with three extra base hits and six RBI. In Sunday's wins over Becker (11-2) and Penn St.-Berks (8-5) she combined to go 4-for-7 with a double, homer, run scored, four RBI and a walk. She is slugging .737 over the first six games.

Miller opened the year with complete game wins in all three of her starts. She struck out four and scattered four hits in the season-opening, 4-0 win over Alvernia and fanned six while allowing three hits and just one unearned run in a 3-1 win against Penn St.-Behrend on Saturday. Overall, she's logged 24.0 innings with a 2.04 ERA and 15 strikeouts over five appearances.

Plymouth State (4-2) squares off against Wheaton (Ill.) and Bridgewater State on Tuesday (Mar. 10) as the team continues its Spring Break trip.
