(Race Results

GILFORD, N.H. - It was another good day for the Plymouth State University ski teams Friday as the Panther men took first place among nine teams and the Panther women finished second among 10 schools at a MacConnell Division giant slalom race at Gunstock Mountain.

PSU had three of the top seven individual finishers out of 72 skiers in the men's race, and five in the top 14.  The Panther men have now won the team standings five races in a row and maintained the lead in the MacConnell Division season standings.  The Panther women had three of the top 13 finishers out of a race of 65 skiers, finishing second as a team for the sixth straight race and taking over first place in the MacConnell Division women's standings.

Plymouth State had a two-second advantage over runner-up Colby-Sawyer College in the men's standings, with Boston College, Babson College and UMass Amherst rounding out the top five.  Brown University finished ahead of PSU to capture the women's standings, with Boston College, Colby-Sawyer and UMass placing third through fifth.

Freshman Chris Beadon (Ridgefield, Conn.) paced the Panther men with a second-place finish, his fourth top-two finish of the year in seven races.  Junior Peter Ostroski (Intervale, N.H./Kennett) and freshman Parker Spear (Sodus Point, N.Y.) were sixth and seventh, respectively. Ostroski has placed in the top seven in all seven races this season and Spear has finished in the top 10 in six out of seven.  Juniors Travis Nevins (Henniker, N.H./John Stark) and Austin Nevins (Henniker, N.H./John Stark) were 11th and 14th, respectively.

Senior Alyssa Deane (Casper, Wyoming) was the top Panther finisher in the women's race with a season-best third place, her fifth top 10 finish.  Freshman Martina Ryberg (Stockholm, Sweden) rebounded from a disappointing performance a week ago with a strong sixth-place finish, her fifth top-six finish this winter.  Sophomore Kait Pawlak (No. Windham, Vt.) brought home a solid 13th place to help the team to its second place.

The teams will be back on the slopes Saturday with a slalom race at Blackwater Ski Area in Andover, N.H.
