JACKSON, N.H. - The Plymouth State University men's ski team finished in first place among nine schools for its sixth straight MacConnell Division victory Saturday afternoon, winning the slalom event at the Boston College/Brown University Carnival held at Wildcat Mountain.
The Panther women also had a solid day, finishing in third place among 10 schools and maintaining a share of first place in the MacConnell Division women's standings. The PSU men have a solid hold on first place in the season standings, with one race remaining.
The PSU men had three top-10 finishers on Saturday, with five Panther racers placing in the top 16 out of the 73 skiers. Junior Peter Ostroski (Intervale, N.H./Kennett) was the top Panther finisher in fourth place, his 26th straight finish in the top eight. Classmates Willie Colt (Hanover, N.H.) and Austin Nevins (Henniker, N.H./John Stark) were sixth and 10th, respectively, each posting their top finish of the season. Junior Tyler Bailey (West Hurley, N.Y.) and senior Chris Carlucci (Mahopac, N.Y.) also scored for PSU, finishing in 15th and 16th, respectively.
Senior Alyssa Deane (Casper, Wyoming) and sophomore Kait Pawlak (No. Windham, Vt.) were the top Panther finishers in the women's race, coming in fifth and seventh among the 67 racers. Deane recorded her seventh top-10 finish this season, and Pawlak her fourth in just five races. Sophomore Katherine Goller (Williston, Vt.) was the third Panther finisher in 15th place.
The regular season will conclude on Sunday with a giant slalom race at Wildcat.
