PSU Skiers in middle of pack in GS at Whiteface
Beadon leads Panther men; Lundmark paces women
LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – Several Plymouth State University ski racers finished in the middle of the pack Friday in the giant slalom portion of the Saint Lawrence University Carnival at Whiteface Mountain.
The Panther men had four finishers in the top 40 among the 91 skiers, finishing sixth out of 13 teams in the GS standings, while the Panthers women's squad had three racers in the top 50 among 77 who started and wound up 13th overall.
Senior Chris Beadon (Ridgefield, Conn./Stratton Mountain School) led the Panthers, placing 16th in the men's race. Freshman Max Martin (Salt Lake City, Utah) posted a 23rd-place finish, while senior Parker Spear (Sodus Point, N.Y.) was 34th and sophomore Andrew Beck (Lake George, N.Y.) placed 38th.
Freshmen Caroline Lundmark (Skelleftea, Sweden) and Matilda Ljuden (Uppsala, Sweden) and junior Leigh Anne Connors (Lake Placid, N.Y.) recorded the top finishes for the Panther women. Lundmark brought home 44th place while Ljuden and Connors were 47th and 48th, respectively.
The teams will be back on the mountain Saturday at Whiteface for the slalom portion of the Saint Lawrence Carnival.
