Panther men place ninth; Panther women 12th
CARRABASSET VALLEY, Maine – The Plymouth State University men's ski team recorded a ninth-place finish while the Panther women placed 12th Saturday in the slalom portion of the Colby College Carnival at Sugarloaf Mountain.
Senior Chris Beadon (Ridgefield, Conn.) paced the Panther men, finishing 16th in the field of 68 men's racers. Beadon moved up from 30th place after one run with the fourth-fastest time of all racers on the second run. Classmate Parker Spear (Sodus Point, N.Y.) was the next Panther finisher, crossing the line in a season-best 26th place, while sophomore Andrew Beck (Lake George, N.Y.) was 32nd and freshman Garrett Quimby (Dunstable, Mass) finished 36th.
Freshman Caroline Lundmark (Skelleftea, Sweden) and junior Leigh Anne Connors (Lake Placid, N.Y.) were the top finishers for the Panther women, Lundmark placing 42nd among the 59 racers and Connors 48th.
The University of Vermont captured both men's and women's titles, outscoring runner-up Middlebury College in the men's standings and second-place Dartmouth College in the women's scoring. The Panther men were ninth out of 13 teams with 49 points, just four points back of both Boston College and Colby College, while the Panther women were 12th, well back of Saint Michael's College but ahead of Harvard University.
The Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) alpine circuit returns to competition on Feb. 8-9 at the Dartmouth Carnival.
