PSU Ski Teams finish 11th in GS at UNH Carnival
Beck paces Panther men; Lemgart tops Panther women
BARTLETT, N.H. – JuniorAndrew Beck (Lake George, N.Y.) and freshmen Kyle Farrow (Collingwood, Ont.) and Charlotte Lemgart (Vaerloese, Denmark) were the top finishers for the Plymouth State University alpine ski teams Friday as the Panthers competed in the giant slalom race of the University of New Hampshire Carnival at Attitash Mountain.
Beck finished in 30th place and Farrow 34th among the 89 skiers in the men's race, while Lemgart was 34th among the 87 women's skiers. Beck was consistent, placing 33rd in the first run and 30th in the second, while Farrow moved up from 41st with the 31st-fastest time on the second attempt. Lemgart was also consistent, placing 35th in both runs.
Sophomore Katie Burton (Jackson, N.H.) was also a solid finisher for the Panthers, placing 50th in the first run and ending up 48th overall.
The University of Vermont captured both the men's and women's team titles, ahead of runner-up Dartmouth College in the women's scoring and Middlebury in the men's standings. The Panther men were 11th, just one point behind 10th-place Colby-Sawyer College and two points ahead of Bates College, while the Panther women trailed 10th-place Harvard University by five points and were ahead of Boston College by four points.
The teams will be back on the mountain Saturday at Cannon Mountain for the slalom portion of the UNH Carnival.
