Lemgart tops Panther women; Martin paces Panther men
HANCOCK, Mass. – Freshman Charlotte Lemgart (Vaerloese, Denmark) and sophomore Max Martin (Salt Lake City, Utah) were the top finishers for the Plymouth State University alpine ski teams Friday as the Panthers competed in the slalom portion of the Williams College Carnival at Jiminy Peak Resort.
Lemgart posted her fourth top-20 finish of the season Friday with a 17th place among 76 women's skiers, her second-best slalom finish this winter. She was 19th after one run and moved up two spots in the second run. Martin led a contingent of three Panther men who finished between 25th and 37th, as Martin placed 25th among the 84 who started. Junior Andrew Beck (Lake George, N.Y.) and freshmen Kyle Farrow (Collingwood, Ont.) were right behind in 31st and 37th, respectively.
The University of Vermont captured both the men's and women's team titles, ahead of runner-up Dartmouth College in the women's scoring and second-place Middlebury in the men's standings. The Panther men were eighth, just one point behind seventh-place Saint Lawrence University and seven points ahead of the University of New Hampshire, while the Panther women were 13th, six points back of Brown University.
The alpine races were switched due to snow conditions, with the slalom moving from Saturday to Friday and the giant slalom backed up from Friday to Saturday.
