PSU Ski Teams open season at Saint Lawrence Carnival

Price, Stuercke lead Panthers in giant slalom debut

            LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – Freshman Allison Price (Rutland, Vt.) and junior Hunter Stuercke (Cottonwood Heights, Utah) posted the top finishes for the Plymouth State University alpine ski teams Friday as the Panthers opened the 2017 racing season in a giant slalom race at the Saint Lawrence University Winter Carnival at Whiteface Mountain.

            Price placed 24th out of 80 skiers in the women's race, while Stuercke finished 32nd out of 80 on the men's side. Price was followed close behind by senior Charlotte Lemgart (Vaerloese, Denmark), who finished one spot back in 25th.

            The Panther women's squad finished in 10th place out of 13 teams, while the Panther men placed 11th out of 13.

PSU HIGHLIGHTS

* Price was making her intercollegiate debut.

* Also posting solid finishes for the Panthers were junior  Danny Blake (Orchard Park, N.Y.), who placed 37th in the men's race, and junior Amelia Rowland (Carrabassett Valley, Maine), who took 43rd in the women's race.

* Dartmouth College outscored Middlebury College in the women's team scoring, while the University of Vermont edged Middlebury for the men's crown.
