Andrew Gannon is in his fourth year as head coach of PSU’s men’s and women’s alpine ski teams in 2013-14.  Gannon joined the Panther staff in 2010 after spending seven years as the head coach at Alyeska Ski Club in Alaska.  He was also a highly-successful head ski coach at Colby-Sawyer College from 1997-03.

Gannon made quite an impact on the Panther program in his first year, leading both teams to the eastern regional championships and strong performances at the US Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association’s national championships, including an individual title on both the men’s and women’s side and the first women’s national team championship in the program’s history in the giant slalom.

Gannon also played a key role in helping PSU join the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association for the 2011-12 racing season.

Gannon had tremendous success in his stint at Colby-Sawyer, with numerous NCAA National Championship individual qualifiers and six consecutive US Collegiate Ski Association national championships.  Colby-Sawyer Alpine Skiing was recognized by Sports Illustrated in April ‘04, for having the most All-American skiing awards, 41 from 1998 through 2004.  Gannon began his coaching career while a student-athlete at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he was a two-time qualifier for both the NCAA and USCSA National Championships.

Gannon grew up ski racing at Crotched Mountain in Francestown, N.H., and graduated from Contoocook Valley Regional High School in Peterborough. During his seven-year tenure  at Alyeska, Gannon helped host the US National Alpine Ski Championships three times, serving as Chief of Course in ’04 and ’07 and Chief of Race in ‘09.
