PSC Women's Basketball wins consolation game at Gallaudet TournamentWASHINGTON, D.C. -
Junior Becky Morse (Sterling, MA) scored 19 points and grabbed 16 rebounds Sunday to lead Plymouth State College to a 87-59 victory over Pine Manor in the consolation game of the Gallaudet Tournament.
Morse, who also had 14 points and six rebounds in Saturday's tournament-opening 77-61 loss to Randolph Macon, was named to the All-Tournament Team. Morse was the Tournament MVP a week ago when PSC captured the MIT Tip-Off Tourney in Cambridge, Mass.
Morse led a contingent of four Panthers in double figures Sunday. Junior Shelby Fontaine (Eliot, ME) tossed in 13 points, and sophomore guards Lynn Hersey (Dexter, ME) and Courtney Jacques (Belmont, NH) added 11 apiece. Hersey scored a team-high 17 points in Saturday's loss to Randolph Macon. Sophomore Jessica Shapiro (Windsor Locks, CT) had an outstanding game, with 11 points and a career-high 17 rebounds.
PSC, 3-1, returns home for a pair of home games this week at Foley Gymnasium, a non-conference clash Thursday (Dec. 4) against Salem State (5:30 p.m.), and the Little East Conference opener Saturday (Dec. 6) vs. Western Connecticut (1:00 p.m.).
