PLYMOUTH, N.H. - A pair of Plymouth State College women's basketball players were honored by the Little East Conference and the Eastern College Athletic Conference for their performances in Panther games last week.
PSC freshman Krystyna Zagorski (Cliffwood, NJ) was selected LEC Rookie of the Week, and junior Becky Morse (Sterling, MA) was named to both the ECAC New England and LEC Weekly Honor Rolls. The two were instrumental in PSC winning its only game, a 64-59 conference triumph Saturday at UMass Dartmouth.
Zagorski, a 5'10" forward/center, came off the bench to contribute eight points and nine rebounds. She connected on four of her six field goal attempts and added one steal. Zagorski is averaging 5.9 points and 6.3 boards in her rookie campaign, ranking third on the team in rebounds.
Morse, a 5'10" center, posted 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Panthers in both departments. She was successful on 8-of-15 field goal attempts and added an assist. The team leader in scoring (15.7 ppg), rebounding (11.3 rpg), FG Pct. (.475), FT Pct. (.674), and blocked shots (1.1 bpg), Morse has been on the ECAC Weekly Honor Roll twice this season and was also selected to a pair of All-Tournament teams.
The win over UMass Dartmouth improved the Panthers to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the LEC. After a road game Tuesday (Jan. 13) at conference foe UMass Boston (5:30 p.m.), PSC returns for four straight home games, including Thursday (Jan. 15) against Endicott (7:00 p.m.) and Saturday (Jan. 17) vs. Eastern Connecticut (6:00 p.m.).
PSC's other game scheduled for last week - Thursday at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine - was postponed due to a power outage caused by the region's ice storm. No make-up date or site has been announced.
