The same two individuals on the Plymouth State College women's basketball team were honored for the second straight week by the Little East Conference.
PSC freshman Krystyna Zagorski (Cliffwood, NJ) was selected LEC Rookie of the Week, and junior Becky Morse (Sterling, MA) was named to the LEC Weekly Honor Roll. The two were instrumental in PSC winning two of its three games last week.
Zagorski, a 5'10" forward/center, came off the bench to average 10.3 points and 7.3 rebounds in the three games. She shot 57.9 percent from the field (11-of-19) and contributed six assists, five steals and a blocked shot. Zagorski is averaging 7.0 points and 6.6 boards in her rookie campaign, ranking third on the team and 10th in the conference in rebounds.
Morse, a 5'10" center, averaged 11.7 points and 6.0 boards for the week. She shot 53.8 percent from the field (14-of-26) and 77.8 from the free throw line (7-of-9), adding six assists, five steals and a pair of blocked shots. Morse is prominent among the conference leaders, ranking fifth in scoring (14.7 ppg), tied for second in rebounding (10.0 rpg), tied for fourth in blocked shots (1.0 bpg), fourth in field goal percentage (.486) and seventh in FT percentage (.692).
PSC has won three of its four games this month to improve to 7-5 overall and 2-3 in the LEC. The Panthers play three more games this week - Tuesday (Jan. 20) at home against defending LEC champion Southern Maine (5:30 p.m.), Thursday (Jan. 22) at home against non-conference foe Norwich (7:00 p.m.), and Saturday (Jan. 24) at Western Connecticut (1:00 p.m.).
