A member of the Plymouth State College women's basketball team has been honored for her outstanding play in a pair of Panther victories last week.
PSC sophomore Courtney Jacques (Belmont, NH) was named to the LEC Weekly Honor Roll for the second time this season. She was instrumental in the Panthers moving back over the .500 mark with a pair of victories over Bridgewater State and UMass Dartmouth.
A 5'5" point guard, Jacques averaged 16.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists in the two PSC wins. She shot 55.6 percent from the floor (10-of-18) and 90.9 percent from the free throw line (10-of-11), while hitting both of her three-point attempts and recording five steals. She was four assists shy of a "triple-double" Saturday against UMD, finishing with 12 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.
Jacques, in her first season as a starter, is second on the team in scoring (10.5 ppg) and leads the Panthers in assists (2.3 apg) and steals (1.7 spg). She also leads the team and ranks fifth in the league in FT percentage (.711).
With the two wins last week, PSC has improved to 10-9 overall. The Panthers are in sixth place in the LEC at 3-7, with four conference games remaining. After a tough road contest Tuesday (Feb. 10) at league-leading Southern Maine (5:30 p.m.), PSC has consecutive conference home games on Saturday (Feb. 14) against UMass Boston (3:00 p.m.) and Tuesday (Feb. 17) in the annual "Spirit Night" contest against Keene State (5:30 p.m.).
