PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Plymouth State College's women's basketball team won its fourth straight contest Saturday, defeating Rhode Island College 76-57 in a Little East Conference game at RIC.
The win improves PSC's records to 14-5 overall and 5-4 in the LEC, while RIC drops to 5-13 and 3-6. With two weeks to go in the regular season, the Panthers are battling Keene State for fourth place and home-court advantage in the first-round of the LEC play-offs, and have a key game on the Owls' home court Tuesday (Feb. 8) at 5:30 p.m.
Junior Kate Fillion (Littleton, NH) erupted for a season-high 22 points Saturday, coming off the bench to connect of 7-of-11 field goal attempts. She drained 4-of-6 three-point tries in her 22 minutes of action. Freshman Jennifer Pelletier (Derry, NH) contributed 12 points and classmate Whitney Morin (Derby Line, VT) added 11, and all 15 Panthers on the roster got into the game.
The Anchorwomen got 25 points and 10 rebounds from senior Jen Cook and 14 points from senior Meaghan Davis, but struggled with the Panther defense, shooting only 24.3 percent for the game (9-of-37).
Following the Keene State game, PSC returns home for consecutive LEC encounters at Foley Gymnasium - Thursday (Feb. 10) vs. RIC (7 p.m.) and Saturday (Feb. 12) against UMass Boston (1 p.m.).
