WENHAM, Mass. - The Plymouth State College women's basketball team remained undefeated in the young season Tuesday night with a 71-55 triumph over Gordon College at Bennett Gymnasium.
Sophomores Jenn Pelletier (Derry, N.H.) and Whitney Morin (Derby Line, Vt.) led the Panthers to their third consecutive win. Pelletier and Morin each scored a team-high 14 points, and Pelletier added six assists, three steals and a game-high 10 boards. Sophomore Lisa Memmen (Zionsville, Ind.) led the way for the Fighting Scots, scoring a game-high 22 points, while senior Abby White (N. Vassalboro, Maine) added eight points and three assists.
PSC opened up the game scoring 18 of their 37 first-half points off of fast breaks, leading by eight points at the half. After leading by double digits most of the second half, PSC saw its lead dwindle, but after a timeout the Panthers were revived, finishing with 34 points in the second half while allowing Gordon only 26. Other scoring threats for the Panthers were senior Krystyna Zagorski (Matawan, N.J.) and junior Megan Fournier (East Waterboro, Maine) with 10 and 11 points, respectively.
PSC, 3-0 under third-year head coach Lauren Lavigne, plays at Salem State on Thursday (6:00 p.m.) The Panthers have their home opener against Eastern Connecticut in the first Little East Conference game this Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
