PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two Plymouth State College basketball players are becoming regulars when the Little East Conference hands out its weekly honors.
Sophomore guard Nick Pelotte (Bingham, Maine) of the PSC men's team and senior forward Courtney Albert (Hudson, N.H.) of the Panther women's team were both selected to this week's LEC Honor Roll. Albert was named to the Honor Roll for the second straight week, while Pelotte has been recognized by the LEC three straight weeks.
A 5'11" guard, Pelotte has been instrumental in helping PSC to a 5-1 start, leading the team in scoring in four of the six games. He averaged 22.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists in three outings last week, and maintains the LEC scoring lead with 24.2 points per game. Pelotte scored 30 points in last Tuesday's 77-66 win over Colby-Sawyer, and added 28 in an 84-79 triumph over UMass Dartmouth in last Saturday's LEC opener.
A 5'9" forward, Albert averaged 16.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists in two PSC wins last week, helping the Panthers improve their record to 4-1. She tossed in 21 points and collected 14 rebounds in Thursday's dramatic win over Salem State, and came back with 12 points and four boards in limited action Saturday in a 30-point win over UMass Dartmouth. Albert ranks among the conference leaders in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, and three-point field goal percentage.
In addition, Albert became PSC's all-time scoring leader in the Salem State game, breaking the career mark previously held by Betsy Bruce (1,264 points from 1991-95). Albert now has 1,285 points, with the rest of the season to add to her record total.
The PSC men's team plays a non-conference game Monday (Dec. 9) at Tufts, while the Panther women play their home opener at Foley Gymnasium Tuesday (Dec. 10) against Coast Guard (6:00 p.m.).
