.S.C. Basketball players honored by Little East Conference
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two Plymouth State College basketball players were recognized by the Little East Conference Monday for their roles in Panther games last week.
Freshman center Kevin Boutilier (North Andover, Mass.) was selected LEC Men's Rookie of the Week, and senior forward Courtney Albert (Hudson, N.H.) was named to the LEC Women's Weekly Honor Roll. It is the first career LEC honor for Boutilier, while Albert, a regular receiver of LEC accolades in her career, was recognized for the third time this season.
A 6'6" center, Boutilier averaged 12.7 points and 3.3 rebounds in PSC's 2-1 week, connecting on 66.7 percent of his field goal attempts (16-of-24). He contributed 16 points in the home win over New England College, and added 20 points in the narrow (87-83) road loss to Western Connecticut. The rookie pivot player is averaging 9.1 points and 3.5 rebounds, and ranks second in the conference in FG percentage (.576).
A 5'9" forward, Albert was a bright spot in a pair of Panther losses, averaging 19.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists. She converted 53.6 percent from the field (15-of-28) and hit all six of her free throw attempts. Albert led PSC in scoring in both games, tossing in 23 points against nationally-ranked Bowdoin and adding 15 against Western Connecticut. Albert leads the conference in scoring (18.7 average), free throw percentage (.893) and three-point field goal percentage (.571), while also ranking among the LEC leaders in rebounding (6.8), field goal percentage (.517) and assists (3.1).
Both Panther squads return to action Tuesday with a home LEC doubleheader against UMass Boston (women at 5:30 p.m., men at 7:30 p.m.). The PSC women (5-5 overall, 1-2 LEC) will be out to stop a four-game losing streak, while the Panther men (9-3 overall, 2-1 LEC) are looking to remain unbeaten at home this season (4-0).
