KEENE, N.H. - Senior Whitney Morin (Derby Line, Vt.) scored a game-high 25 points Tuesday night as Plymouth State College's women's basketball team ran away with its seventh consecutive victory, defeating archrival Keene State College 74-53 in a Little East Conference game at Spaulding Gym.
PSC improves to 12-5 overall and 6-2 in conference play, remaining just a game back of LEC-leading Eastern Connecticut and Southern Maine. Keene State falls to 12-6 overall and 4-4 in the Little East.
Plymouth State held the hosts without a point for eight minutes midway though the first half, and went on an 11-4 run to take a 43-26 halftime lead. The Panthers extended their lead to 24 points in the second half, and Keene State never got closer than 16 points the rest of the way.
In addition to the 25 points, Morin also added seven rebounds, five assists and six steals. Senior Courtney Albert (Hudson, N.H.) added 13 points and nine rebounds, and classmate Heather Adey (Nashua, N.H.) contributed 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Junior Mandi Allen (Blue Hill, Maine) chipped in with 13 points off the Panther bench.
The Owls were led by Julie Tardif (Atkinson, N.H.), who had 16 points and 13 rebounds, and Andrea Arsenault (Dover, N.H.), who added 14 points and seven boards.
The Panthers return home for a non-conference encounter Thursday against Johnson & Wales (7:30 p.m.), while Keene State will host Southern Maine on Saturday (1:00 p.m.).
