PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two members of the Plymouth State College basketball teams was named to the Little East Conference Honor Roll Monday, becoming repeat recipients of the LEC weekly recognition.
Senior Whitney Morin (Derby Line, Vt.) of the PSC women's team and sophomore Anthony Oglesby (Brooklyn, N.Y.) of the Panther men's squad are this week's LEC honorees. Morin is on the Honor Roll for the second straight week and third time this season, and Oglesby is being recognized for the second time in four weeks.
A 5'8" guard, Morin tossed in a team-high 24 points in last Saturday's 74-53 victory over Western Connecticut, PSC's only outing of the week. She connected on 10-of-15 from the field and 4-of-4 from the free throw line, while registering two assists and two steals in just 22 minutes of action. Morin is now just 11 points away from becoming the ninth Panther woman in history to score 1,000 career points.
Morin continues to rank among the Little East leaders in several categories. She is fourth in scoring (16.0 ppg), assists (4.0 apg) and steals (2.9 spg) and 15th in field goal percentage (.412).
A 6'3" forward, Oglesby averaged 14.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in PSC's 1-1 week. He had 14 points and three rebounds in a non-conference win over Johnson & Wales, and came back with a team-high 15-point, 9-rebound effort in a key LEC loss to Western Connecticut. Oglesby shot 46 percent from the field (11-of-24) for the week, adding five assists, a blocked shot and three steals.
A newcomer to the Panthers this season, Oglesby is also one of the Little East leaders in several categories. He is fifth in scoring (16.3 ppg), third in rebounding (8.4 rpg), fourth in field goal percentage (.548) and second in steals (2.3 apg).
The Panther teams are back in action Tuesday with a doubleheader at the University of Southern Maine (women at 5:30 p.m., men at 7:30 p.m.). PSC swept USM when the two schools met for a twinbill in Plymouth on Jan. 21.
