Panthers to host LEC Playoff Game

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Foley Gymnasium on the campus of Plymouth State College will be the site of a Little East Conference Basketball Tournament doubleheader Tuesday evening.

The PSC women's team is the third seed in the tournament, and will host sixth-seeded Western Connecticut State University Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. The Panthers are the second seed in the men's tournament, and will host seventh-seeded Rhode Island College at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free for all LEC Tournament games at PSC.

The Panther women, 18-7 overall, finished in third place in the LEC's regular season with a 10-4 record. A win on Tuesday would propel the Panthers into the LEC semifinals on Friday, most likely against Eastern Connecticut at top-seeded Southern Maine. PSC and WCSU split the regular season series, with each team winning on its home court.

The PSC men, 19-6 overall, tied for second with Keene State in the LEC regular season standings, but earned the #2 seed based on the tiebreaker. The Panthers and Owls both finished 10-4 in conference play, a game behind Western Connecticut. PSC and RIC split the regular season series, with each team winning on its home court.

Tuesday's winners advance to the LEC Tournament semifinals at the site of the highest remaining seed. The LEC men's and women's tournament champions both receive automatic bids to the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

Senior Courtney Albert (Hudson, N.H.) was named Women's Player of the Week for the second time this season, and sophomore Anthony Oglesby (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was selected to the men's weekly honor roll for the third time in the last six weeks.
