LEC Honor Roll for PSU Basketball players

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two members of the Plymouth State University basketball teams were recognized by the Little East Conference Monday for their efforts in PSU's victories over Castleton State in last Tuesday's home openers at Foley Gymnasium.

Senior guard Mandi Allen (Blue Hill, Maine) was named to the LEC Women's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll, and junior guard Nick Pelotte (Bingham, Maine) was placed on the LEC Men's Hoop Weekly Honor Roll. They were the Panthers' leading scorers in the doubleheader triumph over Castleton State, the only PSU games last week.

A 5'7" guard, Allen led the Panthers with a career-high 17 points along with seven rebounds, one assist and two steals. She was good on 8-of-14 from the field, earning LEC weekly honors for the first time in her career. Allen tossed in 5.8 points a game off the Panther bench last season, and is averaging 9.0 points as a starter through three games this year.
A 5'10" guard, Pelotte finished with 20 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals in 19 minutes against the Spartans, leading PSU to the 90-66 non-conference victory. He hit 5-of-11 shots from the field, including 3-of-6 from three-point range. Pelotte earned his first LEC Weekly honor of the season after being recognized five times last season.


The Panther men will be back in action Tuesday (Dec. 2) at the Jacob's Bridge Through Autism Classic, an annual event hosted by N.H. Technical Institute in Concord. PSU will meet New England College in the event's opening game at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Keene State vs. Colby-Sawyer match-up at 7:30 p.m.

Both Panther teams will be home Thursday (Dec. 4), hosting Salem State at Foley Gymnasium in a non-conference doubleheader (women at 5:30 p.m., men at 7:30 p.m.).

SCHEDULE CHANGE: The PSU women's basketball game slated for Tuesday, Dec. 2, at New England College, has been postponed to next Monday, Dec. 8, at NEC (7:00 p.m.).
