Little East Conference honors for PSU Basketball players
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two Plymouth State University basketball players were recognized Monday for their performances in a pair of Panther games last week.
Freshman forward Andreas Pope (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was selected LEC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week, and sophomore forward Katie Susat (Glastonbury, Conn.) was PSU's representative on the LEC Women's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll. It is the second time this season that Pope has been the conference's top rookie, and the second time Susat has made the Weekly Honor Roll.
A 6'1" forward, Pope connected on 11-13 field goals (.846) and
averaged 12.0 points and 7.0 rebounds to help Plymouth State split
a pair of road games in league action last week. Pope registered a
double-double with a game-high 11 rebounds and 13 points, on 6-of-7
shooting (.857) in an 85-79 loss at UMass Dartmouth and connected
on 5-of-6 (.833) field goal attempts for 11 points in an 84-70 win
at Southern Maine.
Pope in enjoying an outstanding rookie campaign for the Panthers. He leads the LEC in field goal percentage (.631) and ranks sixth in rebounding (7.1 rpg) while averaging 10.9 points per game. He has helped the Panthers compile a 15-4 overall record and a share of second place in the LEC with a 6-3 mark.

A 5'8" forward, Susat averaged 17.5 points and 6.5 rebounds and hit
13-of-21 field goal attempts (.619) as the Panthers split a couple
of LEC road games. She led PSU in scoring in both games, tossing in
a team-high 16 points (on 6-of-7 shooting) in an 82-62 loss at
Southern Maine, and finishing with a career-high 19 points and 11
boards in a 90-78 win at UMass Dartmouth.
Susat is third on the team in scoring (8.1 ppg) and second in rebounding (5.4 rpg) and ranks sixth in the conference in FG percentage (.478). She has helped the Panthers to a 9-10 overall record and a share of third place in the LEC with a 4-5 mark. |
The Panther squads will have a break from Little East competition in their next outings as the women travel to Newbury College for a Tuesday game (7:00 p.m.) and the men visit Bridgewater State on Thursday (7:00 p.m.). Both teams return home to host Eastern Connecticut on Saturday in an LEC twinbill (women at 1:00 p.m., men at 3:00 p.m.).
