UMass Dartmouth downs Plymouth State in women’s hoop

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's basketball team scored 18 consecutive points in the first half Saturday afternoon and went on to a 90-67 victory over Plymouth State University in a Little East Conference game at the Tripp Athletic Center.

The game was tied at 11 points each when the Corsairs poured in 18 points in a row, en route to a 49-31 halftime lead. UMD coasted home in the second half, improving to 10-11 overall and 3-7 in the Little East. Plymouth State fell to 9-11 and 4-6 in LEC play.

Sophomore Lindsay Marsh (Bristol, Conn.) led the Corsairs with 17 points, while senior Kerri Augenstein (East Greenwich, R.I.) added 16. Sophomore Ashley Chard (Burlington, Conn.) contributed 13 points, and junior Sarah Lynch (Lakeville, Mass.) chipped in with 10. Marsh had 14 boards as UMD out-rebounded the Panthers, 46-35.

Senior Katie Susat (Glastonbury, Conn.) led the Panthers with 15 points, while junior Ashley White (Merrimack, N.H.) added 11 points and freshman Kayla Morin (Pascoag, R.I.) 10. Susat has come on in recent games for the Panthers, averaging 14 points a game over her last four outings.

Both teams return to action Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. with LEC encounters, the Corsairs visiting UMass Boston and Plymouth State traveling to #1-nationally-ranked Southern Maine.
