Two PSU Womens Hoop players honored by the Little East
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two standouts on the Plymouth State University women's basketball team were recognized Tuesday with season-ending honors from the Little East Conference.
Senior Lauren Daniels (Concord, N.H.) was named to
the five-player LEC All-Defensive Team, and freshman Amanda
Kania (Manchester, N.H./West) was selected to the
five-player LEC All-Rookie Team. Daniels and Kania were key
players on a Panther team that showed a five-game improvement over
last season.
A 5'9 forward, Daniels (right) started all 26 games for the Panthers, averaging 6.8 points and 8.8 rebounds. Her rebounding average led the team and ranks second in the LEC, and is the highest average for a PSU player since 1998-99, when Rebecca Morse collected 8.8 boards a game. Daniels posted 12 double-digit rebounding efforts this season, including the last four games of the year.
A 5'11 forward, Kania (left) turned in an outstanding
freshman campaign for the Panthers, averaging 9.2 points and 4.9
rebounds per game. She led the team in scoring six times this
season, and was named LEC Rookie of the Week on three occasions.
Kania ranked 16th in the conference in scoring, 18th in rebounding,
and eighth in blocked shots (18).
The Panthers finished the campaign with an 11-15 overall record and a 4-10 conference mark under 10th-year head coach Lauren Lavigne.
