PLYMOUTH, N.H. - For the third time this season, the top freshman on the Plymouth State University women's basketball team has been recognized by the Little East Conference with her selection as Rookie of the Week.
Freshman Alicia Doucet (Manchester, N.H./Central) earned the top rookie honor on Monday after leading PSU to a 3-0 week, including a pair of LEC wins. She earned the same honor for the Panthers on two occasions last month.
A 5'11" forward, Doucet (right) averaged 17.0 points and 9.3 rebounds for PSU in three wins last week. She shot 50.0 percent from the field (18-of-36), 42.9 percent from three-point range (3-of-7) and 66.7 percent from the free throw line (12-of-18), while also collecting four assists and three steals. Doucet posted a double-double in Tuesday's win over UMass Boston (12 points, 10 rebounds) and finished one rebound shy of a double-double in the other two games, registering 13 points and nine rebounds in Thursday's non-conference win at Johnson State and wrapping up the week with a season-high 26 points and nine boards in a conference win over UMass Dartmouth.
Doucet continues to perform as one of the top players in the LEC. She is third on the Panthers and 15th in the LEC in scoring with an average of 11.0 points per game, and second on the team and 12th in the conference in rebounding with 6.2 boards per contest. Doucet has also posted 13 blocked shots and 13 steals in 15 games and has recorded two double-doubles (double figures in both scoring and rebounds).
PSU, 12-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play, puts its six-game winning streak on the line on Tuesday against rival Keene State College in a 5:30 p.m. game at Foley Gymnasium.
