Women’s Basketball Tournament at USM rescheduled

            GORHAM, Maine - The University of Southern Maine Department of Athletics announced late Friday afternoon that the USM New Year's Classic women's basketball tournament, scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday, has been rescheduled due to the impending winter storm forecast for Saturday.

            The tournament has been rescheduled to Sunday and Monday at the Warren Hill Gymnasium in Gorham.  Plymouth State University will play Regis College in the first game Sunday (5:00 p.m.), followed by the game between USM and the University of Maine Presque Isle (7:00 p.m.).

            On Monday, Plymouth State will play UMPI in the opening game (4:00 p.m.) followed by USM and Regis (6:00 p.m.).

            Southern Maine enters the tournament with a 6-3 overall record.  Regis is coached by former USM standout Julie Plant. Plymouth State started the season with a school-record eight-game winning streak and brings an 8-1 mark into the tournament.
