PSU Woman receives weekly basketball honor
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - One of the top players on the
Plymouth State University women's basketball team was recognized
Monday with selection to the Little East Conference (LEC) Weekly
Honor Roll.
Sophomore Alicia Doucet (Manchester, N.H./Central) earned her selection to the LEC Honor Roll after leading the Panthers to a runner-up finish in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England Tournament last week. It is the third time this season that Doucet has been recognized with weekly honors from the Little East.
A 5'11" forward, Doucet (right) averaged 21.3 points and
9.0 rebounds for PSU in the ECAC tournament, leading the
sixth-seeded Panthers to upset victories over third-seeded Endicott
College and second-seeded Regis College before taking top-seeded
Keene State College into overtime in the championship game.
She posted a double-double in the opening round win over Endicott
with 22 points and 10 rebounds, and she led all scorers in the
championship contest with 29 points and eight rebounds, seven off
the offensive glass.
Doucet, who was an LEC All-Rookie Team selection in 2009, ranked second in the conference this season with an average of 15.6 points per game. She was fifth in the LEC in rebounding (8.1 per game) and blocked shots (1.1 per game) and 12th in steals (1.7 per contest). Doucet was also second on the team and 12th in the league with 26 three-point field goals.
The Panthers completed the 2009-10 campaign with a 17-11 overall record and their second straight ECAC post-season berth under head coach Lauren Lavigne. The Panthers tied for sixth in the Little East with a 5-9 mark.
