PSU Womens Hoop player named to Senior All-Star game
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – One of the top players on the Plymouth State University women’s basketball team this past season has been selected to participate in the annual senior all-star game.
Senior Laura Kent (Bellingham, Mass.) was chosen to compete in the New England Women’s Basketball Association (NEWBA) Senior All-Star Classic next Saturday, Mar. 27, at 1:00 p.m. at Western New England College in Springfield, Mass. Kent was one of 22 seniors from New England selected to play in the game, and one of just two from the Little East Conference.
A 6’0” forward, Kent (left) averaged 12.5 points and 7.5 rebounds for Plymouth State in 2009-10, shooting 49.3 percent from the field and 84.4 percent from the free throw line. She ranked ninth in the Little East in scoring, sixth in rebounding, fourth in field goal percentage, and second in free throw percentage.
Kent was instrumental in leading the Panthers to Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) play-offs berths the past two seasons. She finished her career with 990 career points.
The Panthers completed the 2009-10 campaign with a 17-11 overall record under head coach Lauren Lavigne. The Panthers tied for sixth in the Little East with a 5-9 mark and advance to the ECAC Championship game, where they lost to Keene State.
