PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The leading scorer on the
Plymouth State University women’s basketball team was honored
Monday with recognition from the Little East Conference (LEC) and
the New England Women’s Basketball Association (NEWBA).
Junior forward Alicia Doucet (Manchester, N.H./Central) was named LEC Player of the Week, and she was also selected to the NEWBA Weekly Honor Roll. She led PSU to a 3-0 week as the Panthers extended their winning streak to six games and improved their record to 6-1 overall.
A 5’11” forward, Doucet (right) averaged 24.3
points and 6.7 rebounds in the three victories last week, including
the Little East opener over UMass Dartmouth. She notched 29
of her 73 points from the free throw line (29-of-40). Doucet
scored 19 points in PSU’s win over Colby-Sawyer College on
Tuesday; tallied a season-high 28 points with seven rebounds in
Thursday’s victory at Salem State; and she finished the week
with a 26-point, eight-rebound performance in PSU’s
conference win over UMD.
Doucet, who was also the LEC Player of the Week on Nov. 22, currently leads the LEC in scoring with 20.9 points per game. She is also 12th in rebounding (7.3 rpg) and free throw percentage (.658), sixth in steals (2.3 spg) and tied for eighth in blocked shots (0.9 bpg).
The Panthers wrap up the semester with a pair of road games this week, a non-conference affair Thursday at Lyndon State (5:30 p.m.) and a Little East encounter Saturday at Eastern Connecticut (1:00 p.m.)
