Corliss leads Panthers against rival Owls

            PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Senior Siobhan Carnell (Quincy, Mass.) scored a game-high 20 points and collected a team-high eight rebounds Tuesday evening as Keene State College defeated Plymouth State University, 62-41, in Little East Conference women's basketball action at Foley Gymnasium.

            Carnell converted 7-of-12 shots from the field and all six free throw attempts to lead the Owls, while sophomore Christan Wojtas (Amherst, N.H.) and freshman Kelsey Cognetta (Stamford, Conn.) added 12 points apiece.  Keene State recorded its first conference win of the season, improving to 6-9 overall and 1-5 in LEC play.

            The home team got 13 points and eight rebounds from junior Krystin Corliss (Loudon, N.H./Merrimack Valley) while freshman Taylor Perry (Simsbury, Conn.) added eight points off the Panther bench.

            Plymouth State played tough against the Owls for the first 10 minutes, trailing by five points midway through the first half.  Keene State outscored the Panthers 13-3 over the final nine minutes to take a 27-12 margin at the break.  Wojtas and Cognetta each scored 10 points for the Owls in the opening session.

            Keene State scored the first six points of the second half to open up a 20-point lead, and the Owls maintained control throughout the second half.

            Both teams play LEC home games on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. as PSU hosts Rhode Island College and Keene State entertains the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
