PSU Women’s Basketball falls to Eastern Conn.

Corliss leads all scorers for Panthers with 15 points

            PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Freshmen Brianna Leonard (Amherst, Mass.) and Jill Ritrosky (Pittsfield, Mass.) combined for 22 points and 18 rebounds Saturday afternoon as Eastern Connecticut State University defeated Plymouth State University, 56-33, in Little East Conference women's basketball action at Foley Gymnasium.

            Leonard scored a team-high 12 points and grabbed six rebounds while Ritrosky earned a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.  Sophomore Taylor McBride (Willimantic, Conn.) handed out six assists off the bench as Eastern improved to 6-4 in conference play (8-13 overall).

            Junior Krystin Corliss (Loudon, N.H./Merrimack Valley) led all scorers with 15 points for Plymouth State.  Sophomore Tiffany Lewis (Hillsboro, N.H.) added eight points and freshman Taylor Perry (Simsbury, Conn.) chipped in with six.  Freshman Bry Bennett (Lancaster, N.H.) contributed a team-high seven rebounds off the bench.

            Lewis hit the first basket of the game for PSU, but Eastern scored the next 16 as the home team went scoreless for the next nine minutes.  The Warriors led by as many as 20 points (31-11) before Corliss scored the last four points of the half to give Eastern a 31-15 lead at the break.

            Sophomore Shannon McCourt (New Fairfield, Conn.) hit a pair of shots for Eastern to open the second and freshman Victoria Pfohl (Trumbull, Conn.) added a three-pointer to push the margin up to 23 points (38-15).  The Warriors maintained a 20-point bulge the rest of the way.

            Both teams play LEC rival games on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. as PSU visits the Keene State College and Eastern Connecticut hosts Western Connecticut State University.
