PSU Women’s Basketball falls to Brooklyn in season opener

Edmonds tops Panthers in scoring in collegiate debut

            POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Guards Carissa Williams and Zoe Randolph combined to score 32 points Friday night to lead Brooklyn College to a 67-40 victory over Plymouth State University in the opening round of the Vassar College Women's Basketball Tip-Off Tournament.

            Williams finished with a team-high 17 points while Randolph added 15 points and five assists.  Nacirema Mann added 13 points and a team-high off the bench and Megan Campbell chipped in with 10 points and seven boards.

            Freshman Rosalie Edmonds (Goffstown, N.H.) paced the Panthers with 11 points and six rebounds off the bench in her collegiate debut. Junior Kristen Hrubowchak (Litchfield, N.H./Campbell) added eight points off the bench, and sophomore forward Bry Bennett (Lancaster, N.H./White Mountain Regional) collected a team-high eight rebounds.

            The Panthers used a solid team effort with all nine players who saw action getting into the scoring column.

            Host Vassar defeated Wellesley College in the first semifinal, 55-41.  PSU will meet Wellesley Saturday in the consolation game at 2:00 p.m.  Vassar meets Brooklyn in the title game at 4:00 p.m.
