Conant earns Second Team honors following breakout season
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The leading scorer on the Plymouth State University women's basketball team earned Little East Conference (LEC) honors as the league announced its major awards winners and all-conference teams on Tuesday.
Junior Jess Conant (Canton, Maine) was voted to the All-LEC Second Team following a vote of the league's eight head coaches.
Conant enjoyed a breakout season to lead the Panthers in scoring. Her 16.9 points per game average was the fifth best in the Little East. She shot a career high 46.5% from the field, eighth best in the league, while averaging 34.9 minutes per game. She also added 5.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per contest.
The 5-10 guard/forward surpassed the 20-point threshold eight times and led the Panthers in scoring in 18 of 26 games. She finished the season with 440 points after averaging less than 2.5 points per game over her first two years.
The Panthers finished the season with a 7-19 mark (3-11 LEC) to earn the seventh seed for the LEC Tournament. Despite cutting a 17-point first half deficit down to just two points at the end of the third quarter, PSU fell to second-seeded University of Massachusetts Boston in the first round.
