PSU Women’s Ice Hockey posts second straight victory

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Sophomore Krista Pettrey (Northfield, Vt.) and junior Kelly Williams (Canaan, N.H.) combined for five goals and one assist Saturday as the Plymouth State University women's ice hockey team skated past MIT, 9-3.

Pettrey had two goals and an assist as the Panthers built up a 6-2 lead through two periods, and Williams sealed the victory with a natural hat trick in the third period.  PSU registered its second straight victory to improve to 3-4 on the season, while MIT drops to 5-6-1.

Junior Holly Williams (Wolfeboro, N.H.) and freshmen Katie Barany (Middlesex, Vt.) and Jenna Lace (Pascoag, R.I.) joined Pettrey in the first-period scoring department as the Panthers took a 4-0 lead.  Freshman A.J. Johnson (Nashua, N.H.) made it 5-0 in the second period before MIT got on the board with consecutive goals by Ana Yook (Waltham, Mass.) and Patty Lee (Edison, N.J.)  Pettrey added her second of the game to put the Panthers up 6-2 after two.

MIT's Jenny Yang scored the first goal of the third period, but Kelly Williams scored the next three goals for PSU to clinch the game for the visitors.

Freshman goalie Ashley Haverly (Washington, Conn.) registered the victory in the Panther net.  Rhianna Cohen held down the MIT net.
