Plymouth State Womens Ice Hockey falls to Sacred Heart
FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Sacred Heart University's JV team rallied for four goals in the last nine minutes Sunday night, puling out a 6-5 victory over Plymouth State University in a women's ice hockey game.
Alex DiGriogio led the Sacred Heart attack with three goals, including two in the third-period rally. Freshman Kim Chandler (Andover, Mass.) led the way for the Panthers with two goals and an assist.
Plymouth State led 2-1 after the first period on goals by Chandler and senior Kelly Williams (Canaan, N.H.) The teams traded second-period goals, with Chandler scoring her second for PSU.
The Panthers extended their lead to 5-2 early in the third period on goals by sophomore Holly Winchell (Atkinson, N.H.) and senior Holly Williams (Wolfeboro, N.H.), but Sacred Heart staged the comeback for the win.
PSU freshman goalie Lindsay DeLorie (Holliston, Mass.) finished with 25 saves in 39 minutes of action, while sophomore Katelyn Quint (Conway, N.H.) played six minutes and made six saves.
The Panthers wrap up competition for the semester with a pair of games this weekend at MIT, facing the varsity team Friday at 7:00 p.m. and the club team Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
